Guess what Kareena Kapoor is most excited about these days? A major role offered by well-known filmmaker Shyam Benegal in his forthcoming venture.
"I don't know if I should be saying this but after Shyamji narrated the script to me, I've not been getting sleep in the night," Kareena told IANS.
It is a historical film, said Kareena, adding, "It is the role of a lifetime and I know if I do it, it will add another feather to my cap."
Vivek Oberoi is likely to play opposite her in the Benegal film. Kareena plays the character of a smuggler in the film and said she has been trying to think of getting into the shoes of a smuggler.
Though major film hits have eluded her, Kareena said she has not lost heart.
"I know I don't have any big movie to my credit but I still have a lot of faith in myself as an actress," said Kareena.
"I can play a prostitute in 'Chameli' and at the same time a housewife in 'Aitraaz'. The diverse offers have kept me on a roll all this long."
"Otherwise what is the point doing the same character in every film? I'm sure any actress can do that easily."
Her recent release "Aitraaz" received rave reviews. Priyanka Chopra plays a scintillating vamp in it.
Kareena said Abbas, one of the directors of the film, had offered her "both the characters". "But I felt the positive character was what I wanted to play. Somehow the negative character is not so successful for me like it happened in 'Fidaa'."
"I knew the moment I saw 'Fidaa' that this film will not work. How can you kill the character in the movie? In fact there were two ends to 'Fidaa' and they opted for the wrong choice which was not liked by the audiences," she said.
She denied her mother helped her in deciding which films to sign on. "No, it is me who decides. Mom has no time, she only watches Star News all the time!"
Kareena said she was not after awards. "The national award of my sister Karisma and my three awards are cleaned by my servants every day. I'm more interested in doing my job," she said.
