You can instantly relate to the name if you are a Carnatic Music buff. Saint Purandara Dasa, hailing from modern day Karnataka is considered the Father of Carnatic Music as we know it today. The organization instituted in memory of him, which is based in Bengaluru, had recently hosted a function, which paid respect to the legendary saint. As the chief guest of honour, none other than Superstar Rajinikanth was invited to the function. However, since the actor was held up with work related to his upcoming 'Kochadaiyaan', he had sent his friend Rao Bahadur to represent him in the function. During the course of the function, Rao Bahadur was in for a pleasant shock, when the organization and an artiste presented him with a portrait of the Saint Purandara Dasa, which resembled Rajinikanth. Seeing this, everyone who was present unanimously voted for Rajinikanth to essay the lead role in a Kannada movie based on Purandara Dasa. Addressing the audience, the Superstar's friend said that he will hand over the painting to Rajinikanth, persuade him to act in the film and also keep his fingers crossed like the rest of the fans, for Rajini's nod.

Superstar has already acted in a movie 'Sri Raghavendrar' way earlier in his career, which continues to be one of the top favourites among his movies, for everyone. Nobody else can do justice to the roles that he has essayed. Now it is upto you to see him as Purandara Dasa or not. Express your feeling in the comments below.
