Making a movie is an uphill task... Story, cast and direction alone doesn’t count... What makes a film a film is several factors which come together to give shape to the project... While it is lot more easier to make a film based on contemporary times, what’s more taxing is when a film is set against the backdrop of bygone era.

And ‘Lootera’ is one such venture...

Since the film is based in the 50s, it has been a massive struggle to recreate the look of the era due to the rampant commercialization. The makers said to have done a lot of research and gone long lengths to get the sets, the look, feel and character sketches etched out.

One of the key aspects for the film was also the music. The music in general sets the tone for the film and hence the makers were keen to have the composition like the music of the old era.

In fact, they were quite adamant to have music which is melodious and lyrical. The format of the music was top priority so much that the makers repeatedly kept on reminding Amit Trivedi, the music director that the music needs to reflect that the film belongs to the Golden Era.

It can be noted that music in the 50's was in a sense formatted with 2 antras followed by a mukhra. And Amit has delivered the sound track bang-on. The result is the music of ‘Lootera’ has been appreciated and loved by audiences; since it transfers them to the past effortlessly.
