'Aurangzeb' is very ordinary

The signs were clear, the indications were there but still hopes were not lost. Going by the promotion route that the film had taken, one was indeed wary of how 'Aurangzeb' would eventually be received at the box office.
Though one wasn't expecting a fantabulous start by any means, it was still expected that the film would pull through on a decent note with an opening of around 40%-50%. However, even this conservative prediction proved to be a bit far fetched as the opening day was around 25%.
Things didn't show any massive jump over the rest of the weekend either since the reports were mixed. No one termed the film as bad; it wasn't either by any means.
However, it didn't result in a 'wow' factor that bridges the difference between 'watch-it-if-you-have-time' versus 'go-and-watch-it-for-sure'. The messaging was more around the former and this is what resulted in ordinary collections coming it.
With a little over12 crores being collected in it's opening weekend, this film would be remembered more for Rishi Kapoor's terrific act than anything else.
Though Arjun Kapoor had a huge opportunity to his disposal in a double role, it is an inconsistent narrative as well as a mix-up of too many episodes, especially towards the culmination of the film, which let him down.
Other release of the week, 'I Don't Luv U', was always on a very weak wicket since even a good release was a challenge for it. As expected, the film failed on that count itself and rest was taken care by hardly flattering reviews as well as lack of audience footfalls.
The film is a washout and given the fact that there was reasonably okay promotion that went along with it, the losses would be on all counts.
