In a pure-desi style "Lallan top" celebration, Eros International hosted the very first event for their film Raanjhanaa as they recreated Benares on the sets of Filmcity, Goregaon.
The larger-than-life event reminiscent of the oldest-city in India, saw Dhanush who makes his big Bollywood debut in Raanjhanaa enter on a chariot filled with dancers, as he gives the audience a taste of his character in one of the grandest entries of all time. The films leading lady Sonam Kapoor was also present, dressed for the occasion in simple yet elegant ethnic attire.
Commenting on the theme said producer Krishika Lulla, "We wanted the audience to return with a sense of having visited Benares....we wanted to do something that represented the essence of the film and hence the idea of having a lallan-top function in true Benarasi style."
Talking about Dhanush, his film's lead, director Aanand L.Rai said,"After Tanu weds Manu I had the opportunity of signing some of the biggest names in Bollywood but I knew right from the scripting stage that my hero had to be Dhanush." All praise for the actor added Aanand, "Its only human to go wrong sometimes but I wasn't an idiot to cast Dhanush...the success of the trailer only goes to prove that my gut feeling hit the bulls-eye."
Raanjhanaa is slated to hit the screens on 21st June 2013.
