Some of the biggest names in Bollywood will come together for a song in the movie, Bombay Talkies, the much awaited film that marks the celebration of 100 years of Indian Cinema.
The song, titled "Apna Bombay Talkies", will have 20 industry stalwarts and it has been choreographed by Vaibhavi Merchant.
The song, which is a title track, will feature such big names the Khans - Aamir, Shah Rukh and Saif Ali - in addition to Kareena Kapoor, Vidya Balan, Rani Mukerji, Farhan Akhtar, Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra. Bollywoods young brigade - Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, Imran Khan, Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone - will also feature in it. Madhuri Dixit, Anil Kapoor, Sridevi, Akshay Kumar, Karisma Kapoor and Juhi Chawla will also be seen in the number.
Over 20 singers have also come together to lend their voices for the actors. Revealed a source, "For the first time, 20 singers will be part of the same song. The title track has been sung by some of the most reputed singers in the industry. And the interesting part about this is that the singers have recorded for those actors whom they generally do the playback singing for in their movies."
Some of the prominent singers featured in the track are Sunidhi Chauhan, Shaan, Kavita Krishnamoorthy, SP Balasubramaniam, Abhijeet, Kumar Sanu, Alka Yagnik, Mohit Chauhan, Sonu Nigam, Sudhesh Bhosle, Shreya Ghosal, Shilpa Rao, Udit Narayan, KK and Sukhwinder Singh.
The source further added, "Vaibhavi has beautifully choreographed this number. There was a strict dress code for all the actors. All the men had to wear black tuxedos and the women wore gold outfits, designed by their own stylists. The song took over a month to be shot entirely as all the actors have independently shot for their parts."
Directed by four directors - Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar and Dibakar Banerjee - Bombay Talkies is an anthology of four short stories. Featuring Rani Mukerji, Randeep Hooda, Katrina Kaif, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Saqib Saleem among others, the film is slated to release on 3rd May 2013.
