Recently Priyanka Chopra had been on a professional tour to US and Canada. In a twist of events, one of the members of her team, Jiban Patra passed away in unknown circumstances.
It happened so that 41-year old Patra had stayed back in Los Angeles owing to visa issues while others returned India. Patra reported to have found dead in his Beverly Hills hotel room on 7th April.
After following legal procedures, the Los Angeles Police Department had granted permission to bring Patras body to India. But then apparently things are getting delayed due to certain financial issues and Priyanka and her office team are said to be making necessary arrangements to bring Patras body home.
However, Priyanka of late is facing allegations that the actress is not serious about this and because of which things are getting more delayed. Following these talks, her spokesperson through a statement clarified that its not at all the case and Priyanka herself is involved with the transfer procedures and is trying her best to sort out matters at the earliest.
The letter went - "This is a very unfortunate and unexpected situation. Our deepest condolences go out to Mr. Patras family. Our aim throughout was to ensure that Mr. Patra remains were brought back to his family at the very earliest. Owing to the situation that this occurred in a foreign country, where no family member was present, there were multiple levels of paperwork and processes that had to be followed to ensure that the matter was handled effectively and in a timely manner.
Owing to some delays in paperwork from the familys end, the repatriation of the body was delayed. Ms. Chopra also delayed her return to India to ensure that everything was in place for Mr. Patras remains to be repatriated to India. We have been in constant touch with the family to keep them updated on the matter. All details and financial requirements related to the repatriation was and is being handled directly by Ms. Chopra and her team in LA. We are making all efforts to ensure his familys needs are taken care of at this unfortunate time."
Priyanka of late approached her friend and Pyaar Impossible co-star Udya Chopra, who is a regular Los Angeles visitor, to help her with this issue. Uday said to have willingly stepped in to take hold of the matters and even put his LA based lawyer, Arnold Peter, on the scenario.
