First it was Kamal Hassan's 'Vishwaroopam', now it is Chiranjeevi's nephew Allu Sirish's debut and Tamil-Telugu bilingual 'Gouravam' that has too many hands pointing at it. About 80% of the shoot is complete; the film is directed by Radha Mohan and produced by Prakash Raj. Now the controversy is on that the film is a take off on a real life incident of communal violence that erupted after an inter-caste marriage in Dharmapuri, late last year. President of Kongu Vellala Goundargal Peravai, Pongalur Manigandan says "The trailer is a giveaway that the movie speaks of the Dharmapuri incident. Watching the movie will only provoke more people to indulge in such heinous activities." On behalf of 60 different communities and groups, portrayed to be supportive of honour killing, a stay order for the release of the movie has been requested in the court.

Meanwhile, the director says that the film is not what it is perceived to be. "My film is not based on the Dharmapuri incident. I request them to watch the movie before they can point finger at and complain about my movie" he said. On whether he will have a special screening for them before the official release slated for the 19th of April, Radha Mohan says "Certainly, but only if the government orders me to."
