Tollywood and Kollywood sensation Kajal Agarwal who made her debut in Singham with Ajay Devgn is looking forward to her next B-town release Chabbis Special opposite Akshay Kumar now. Kajal who has made a grand entry in bollywood with ‘Singham’ is now awaiting the response for her next Special Chabbis which is swelling in popularity day by day. In an open chat with indiaglitz the talented actress speaks about her experience in the Hindi film industry and her experience of working on two different genres of cinema.

What is Chabbis Special all about and what made you take it up?

This has been my second film and it has been a great experience. This is a special film because it has an impressive story and I play Priya Chauhan who is a simple, innocent and vulnerable school teacher and also the love interest of Akshay Kumar. I had to focus on the character as mine is a parallel track to the entire story. She is the stabilizing factor in Ajay’s (Akshay Kumars character) life.

You haven’t signed many films after Singham?

After Singham I was committed to a lot of movies down south. There were eight films in a row and now they are finally getting over. I am getting through two and half films by March now. After that it will be over. I am very happy about this film as it is a special film and intelligent film and what the society needs today.

There were seasoned actors like Anupam Kher and Manoj Bajpai were there any inhibitions?

I have grown up watching Anupam Kher and Manoj Bajpai’s work and I was excited. I wasn’t inhibited but was excited and looking forward to work with such great actors.

Was Bollywood always the criteria for you?

There was never a criterion in my life. I wish there had been. Things just happened with me. Even entering south movies happened by chance. I went with the flow. I wanted to do MBA and go abroad for studies and land up a job in a multinational company but I guess life had other plans for me. Not that I am complaining, I love what I am doing.

Did you do South films so that you could easily get into bollywood?

Since I was a South Mumbai girl so it was a great culture shock for me when I started doing South films. I have grown up in the South Mumbai and am very broadminded, suddenly I was sent to this small village Madanpalli near the border of Karnataka and Andhra for my debut Telugu film. I was made to wear the half sari called Longa Vani and run through fields and run between goats ride a bicycle.I was petrified as I have never ridden a bicycle before I drive cars, I was asked to play with the goats. It was all unimaginable. So I don’t try to strategies my movies.

In the South directors want their actresses to be plump but bollywood is all about being size zero, your take on that?

In the south the directors like women to be like women that are plump. Times are changing; you don’t have to have the zero size figure anymore. As long you are fit and your belly is not falling out its fine. I don’t have to be skinny to look glamorous.

So have you hit the gym?

I have been tied up with work so I don’t get time to work out for my fitness. I do yoga, gym and have a balanced diet. I eat everything and avoid carbohydrate at night. My weakness is sweets, both Indian sweets and chocolates but I do try and avoid them once in a while.

How has the entire experience of working on this film been?

It’s been quite an eye opener in terms of exposure. Working on my own language has been a blessing. I find a lot of similarities as to the working. A lot of actors and technicians are shared in the industry and it has become one big pan Asian industry.

What have you learnt from bollywood?

I learnt to be patient. I was not impatient earlier but in the South films are made pretty fast. They start and finish on time. Hindi film industry is still learning that. Fortunately both the films I did here have finished very fast

Has your criteria for choosing films changed now since you have done two films with the top actors?

For me the actors are not the criteria for choosing films. As long as the story is good it doesn’t matter. It does matter to an extent but I am open to doing good stories. I had reservations down South when I did films there and I have reservations here too. I am okay with glamour in different ways. I believe that a girl can look hot in skinny jeans and well fitted Kurta. I don’t think you need to shed clothes to look hot. If the character demands and the director insist I will tell him to change it for me.

Have you signed any other Hindi films?

As of now I have not signed anything as yet. Like I said I have to complete two projects down south.
