This bilingual action thriller which is both written, directed and produced by Kamal Hassan has been having a really hard time right from the beginning of its making.

The original producers of the film backed out after seeing the increase in expenses and Kamal himself took up that job. And then, the DTH release. This idea caused multitude of problems for Kamal because most of the industry was against it. Even after all that, Kamal was about to release it on DTH for Rs 1000 per viewing on the 10th of January while the theater release was to be the next day.

Now, the movie did not get expected the amount of bookings on DTH, so they backed out of that plan. Not just that, Kamal himself says that even the theater release is postponed to the 25th of January because not many theaters came forward to release too. It looks like we won't get to see "Vishwaroopam" for quite a while, because Kamal himself didn't seem sure about the release date for now.
