'Barfi' Daju passes away

Veteran actor Haradhan Bandopadhyay aka Daju of ‘Barfi’ fame is now no more....

Haradhan, aged 87, passed away on 5th Jan after battling for life for nearly 15 days at a Kolkata hospital.

Playing the head of asylum in ‘Barfi’, the film had been Haradhan’s last screen outing, who had previously featured in Pradeep Sarkar's 'Parineeta', several Satyajit Ray's films namely 'Shonar Kella', 'Jai Baba Felunath' and 'Mahanagar' to name a few.

Sharing the news of Haradhan’s demise, a sad ‘Jhilmil’ Priyanka Chopra wrote on her micro-blogging site on Saturday thus - "Woke up to the saddest news.

The wonderful actor who played Jhilmil's Daju in Barfi Mr Haradhan Banerjee passed away.. RIP sir.. You blessed us."

While ‘Barfi’ director Anurag Basu tweeted, "For rest of our lives we will cherish golden moments spent with Haradhanda! At 87 He was younger than me at heart."
