'Cigarette Ki Tarah' and 'Myoho' were two stray releases of last week and both have proven to be disasters at the box office. Meanwhile 'The Last Act' arrived without any noise and disappeared unannounced as well.
One wonders what was the real need of releasing a film in such a manner that one couldn't expect anything but a disastrous outcome, at least from the box office standpoint.
The one which did well and actually turned out to be a one horse race, albeit not at a galloping pace, was 'Khiladi 786'. The film ended up adding around 20 crores to its tally, hence touching upon the 70 crore mark.
The way film has done since it's opening Sunday, it has been a clear indication of the Akshay Kumar starrer being accepted by the target audience for its entertainment quotient. However the fact that the first two days weren't fantastic enough proved to be a huge difference between what the film ended up making and what it could have made.
Nevertheless, for Akshay Kumar, Himesh Reshammiya and Asin, the film has ended 2012 on a euphoric note.
Same can't be said for Aamir Khan though whose 'Talaash' couldn't quite gain much moolah and has just about managed to cross the 90 crore, hence falling well short of the 100 crore mark.
A success nonetheless, much more was expected from this film which was a complete package affair waiting to be exploited.
