Two films belonging to the same genre (comedy) and boasting of one principal character being the same actor (Paresh Rawal) release this weekend - 'OMG Oh My God!' and 'Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal'.

Now this is clearly a situation that could have been best avoided. However now that the makers have taken a decision, it is clear that the business would be divided to some extent at the least.

However one fact that is obvious is that 'OMG Oh My God!' would have a definite edge over 'Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal' due to Akshay Kumar featuring in it.

After 'Rowdy Rathore', this is one film which Akshay has promoted quite extensively and has also made it quite clear that he believes in the content and execution of the Paresh Rawal starrer.

The promos have been interesting too while the songs, especially 'Govinda' and 'Hey Ram', have been attention grabbing as well.

However what also holds true is the fact that the film is basically a Paresh Rawal starrer with Akshay in a limited appearance.

It would be interesting to see how well is his role spread out in the film's running length since so far in promos he has been quite prominently placed.

The film should find an opening in the range of 50%-60% which should be good for its genre, scale, theme and cast. While one expects it to grow from word of mouth, it is wait and watch mode as of now since there would be some competition from 'Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal' as well followed by two new releases (English Vinglish, Kismet Love Paisa Dilli) next week.

Meanwhile 'Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal', which has a modest budget as it's major plus point, may well turn out to be a dark horse too.

One may remember that on its release even 'Malamaal Weekly' had seemed like an odd inclusion before it turned out to be a surprise success.

Though its opening is expected to be lesser than 'OMG Oh My God', the fact remains that the film brings Priyadarshan in his comfort zone (comedy) after 'Tezz' and 'Aakrosh'. If the film indeed turns out to be funny, it may just enjoy a stable week for itself.
