It was always on the cards that 'Raaz 3' would open to a good response all over. However no one expected, not even the makers, that the film would embark on such a solid opening that it would actually end up finding itself in a 'record zone'.
This is what has happened for this offering from Bhatt brothers which has actually created quite a few records within first three days of its release with collections in the vicinity of 35 crores.
For starters, it is the first ever film in the recent times with an 'adults only' certificate to find such huge patronage from the audience.
Secondly, it is the only horror film to have found such mass acceptance across the length and breadth of the country. Thirdly, it is only 3D film made in India to find such heavy footfalls.
Fourthly, and very importantly, this is now the biggest opener ever for Emraan Hashmi, Bipasha Basu, Vikram Bhatt and of course Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt.
The film has managed to rake in very huge numbers not just on an absolute note but also on a relative basis when compared to it's closest competitors like 'Rowdy Rathore' and 'Bol Bachchan' (above it) and 'Cocktail' and 'Agent Vinod' (below it).
This also means that prediction of a 25-30 crore weekend (which was the max that even well wisherssupporters of 'Raaz 3' expected) have been crushed by a huge margin and the talk is now centred on how far would the film go.
While it is now almost certain the magical mark of 50 crore would be crossed in one week flat (hence also turning out to be Emraan Hashmi's biggest solo earner), 'Raaz 3' is now aiming at a total in the range of 65-70 crores. All eyes are also on 'Barfi!' and the performance of this Ranbir Kapoor starrer would have a bearing on the eventual fate of 'Raaz 3'.
It also seems just apt because when it comes to popularity quotient, Emraan Hashmi and Ranbir Kapoor are pretty much neck to neck and it is only timely that they would now be competing with each other.
Meanwhile films like 'Chal Pichchur Banate Hain' and 'Riwayat' hardly proved to be any competition and sunk without a trace.
