When she watched the Thai film Alone, Priyamani felt that it would be nice if someone from South India made that film and she had the opportunity to act in it. Least did she imagine that Ponnu Kumaran will approach her with a story inspired from Alone.
"Charulatha is only inspired by Alone's story. Ponnu has converted it to suit our nativity. I did not accept to do the film expecting to win awards. If I win an award, I will be happy," Priyamani, who won the National Award for her role in the Tamil version of Malligadu, says.
The story is about how the lives of Charu and Latha, the conjoined twins, changes when a boy starts loving one of them. The film is a thrilling movie-watching experience from the word go, the makers say. Love, sentiment and comedy are interwoven into the film. The film will be released by Geetha Arts in Telugu on Sep 21. It is also made in Tamil and Kannada.
