Gopichand Malineni has roped in Shruti Hassan for the role of Ravi Teja's heroine in his next movie. Titled as Balupu, this movie will go on the floors soon. The news about Shruti's finalization was confirmed by the film's music director Thaman on Twitter. It is rumoured that Shruti is part of the film because of Harish Shankar's suggestion.

Produced by Prasad V Potluri of PVP Cinema, the film is currently in the pre-production stage. Thaman is composing tunes in a Chennai studio. The film marks the entry of PVP into Tollywood, finally with a straight film. The production house has to its credit Viswaroopam and Naan Ee to its credit.

Written by Kona Venkat, the film is important for Gopichand, whose last film was Venkatesh's Bodyguard.
