Don't expect miracles from heroines: Shriya Saran

We have heard many heroines say that they are feeling lucky to be in times when female roles are being written with an intelligent ink. Shriya Saran begs to differ. She feels that heroines could not be expected to deliver goods when they are (routinely) cast in routine roles. Although heroines do want to be cast in interesting roles, but much depends on the films they are offered.
"It is not in a heroine's hands to make miracles. We should be offered distinct characters for that, and the responsibility for this squarely rests with the director. Heroines are by and large portrayed the same way on the screen. Those who complain about the fact that we are playing similar roles again and again should think twice. Every actress wants to try different roles," she says.
Shriya is realistic when she says that she cannot expect a Nuvve Nuvve or Nenunnanu to come her way every year. In the 10 years of her career she has got many meaty roles, Shriya quips.
