If Ala Modalaindi proved it beyond doubt that he can strike chemistry with as contrasting a beauty as Nithya Menon, Bheemili Kabaddi Jattu showed his intense side. Pilla Jamindaru showed that Nani is one of the few young actors in the current crop who can seamlessly essay a sentimental role with maturity.

Nani, who celebrates his birthday today (Feb. 24), is one actor who has the potential to make it bigger in the coming days. If his manly looks endear him to the youth, Nani's slang and modulation make him adorable by the common audience.

Year 2012 is perhaps the most important year for him. For an actor who has come a long way since Ashta Chamma, who has portrayed comedy and serious roles alike, playing two of the most challenging roles in Eega and Yeto Vellipoyindi Manasu must have been immensely satisfying as well as demanding. He is in the safe hands of Rajamouli and Gautham Menon, directors whose heroes can come across as revelation. Bear in mind that if the former can explore new dimensions and talents in a hero, the latter can make an actor maturely bring out a studied performance. So, expect to watch Nani in a subtly heroic performance in Eega and an understated romantic actor in YVM.
