Ranveer wants to show his range with 'Lootera'

Considering the fact that he is an 'outsider' in the industry, Ranveer has indeed come a long way by audience actually waiting to see him much more often. After being seen as 'Bittoo' in his first film, he risked getting stereotyped but he managed to change that by playing 'Ricky' in his subsequent film 'Ladies v/s Ricky Behl'. Now that he would be seen in a period drama 'Lootera', what can one expect from him?
"To display more range as an actor," Ranveer says promptly, "I want to have a wide range and frankly for me the most important thing was to break the image of 'Bittoo Sharma'. Let me tell you an interesting anecdote. A year ago when I had gone for an awards show and spoken on stage, Abhinav Kashyap (of 'Dabangg' fame) had come to me and said that he was surprised I could speak in English. He said that 'Bittoo Sharma' had become such a cult character that despite being a filmmaker himself, he was deceived that eventually I was only playing a character and not my real self."
Shouldn't he be thrilled with the compliments?
"While this does boost your ego since it positions you quite strongly as an actor who has been accepted, it is also a scary situation to be in as you don't want to get carried away and shy away from doing anything different. I have just started my career and can't afford to stick to the winning formula. A pat on the back does help in motivating you. I too feel a lot humbled to see audience root for me like this. However I know that abhi toh bahaut aage jaana hai."
Well, the kind of confidence that you are displaying Ranveer, you would indeed go a long way!
