They say, nothing works like slice-of-life emotional drama. If we had any doubts about it, Oh My Friend squelched them. That's why we are not surprised when Venu Sriram says that the incidents which he had witnessed in his own life formed the core of his film. "OMF is laced with real-life incidents and characters that inspired me to write the story. I have a friend like Siri (played by Shruthi Hassan) in my life."
The talented maker hits out at any comparisons between OMF and Iddaru Mitrulu. "There is no resemblance between IM and OMF. Except that both films are based on friendship between a girl and a boy, they are essentially distinct. After watching the film, K Raghavendra Rao (director of IM) himself congratulated us for making a pure film on friendship. He complimented us saying that OMF is refreshing and sincere."
He further says, "I have dealt with the subject with honesty. I thank Chaitanya Dantuluri, Koratala Shiva and Babila for their valuable assistance in penning the script. Rahul Raj's music, Mani Sharma's background score, Vijay K ChakravarthyÂs cinematography and the effort of other team members, have immensely contributed to the success. I wrote the story with Siddharth in mind. Shruthi was finalized in the later stages."
Venu Sriram is thankful that he has Dil Raju, Sirish and Lakshman, whom he calls good-hearted people, in life. His next film is again going to be under their banner.
The audience, who compared apples and oranges (that is, Bommarillu and OMF), found his film unsatisfactory. Later, however, when they watched the film with an open mind, they found OMF truly heart-touching. This explains why the film has been doing a greater business in the later weeks than in the first week of its release.
