After much hype and controversy, ‘Heroine’ is back on track finally and for sure…. UTV Motion Pictures and Madhur Bhandarkar's hugely anticipated film ‘Heroine’ which was initially started with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, came to an abrupt halt following the actress’s pregnancy. There was uncertainty whether the project will materialize… But then the dream project of Bhandarkar fell in to the lap of Bollywood's number one heroine Kareena Kapoor, who was apparently the first choice of ‘Heroine’.

Now according to our reports, ‘Heroine’ has taken on a fresh page by starting its shooting schedule on Saturday in Filmcity, Mumbai.

UTV and Bhandarkar are associating again post the hugely successful film ‘Fashion’ that swept the box office and the major awards, winning National Awards and Filmfares for its lead actresses Priyanka Chopra and Kangna Ranaut.

Stated Siddharth Roy Kapur, CEO of UTV Motion Pictures, "Heroine is one of the most anticipated movies of 2012 and for all of us associated with it, that means a lot of hard work over the next few months to meet the massive audience expectations. With an excellent script, a talented director at the top of his game and a superb cast and crew, we're confident we'll be up to the challenge!"

While Madhur said, “I'm delighted that I'm making Heroine with UTV. We had a great experience of working together during Fashion and we are taking this beautiful relationship forward. Heroine is a dream project for me about an industry in which I have lived my dreams and it will be my biggest film to date."

As with any Madhur film, Heroine promises a fascinating insider's account; this time about life on top of the movie business today. Known for his amazing collaborations with some of the top heroines of the last decade, interestingly this is the first time Madhur is working with Kareena - and their pairing should create magic. ‘Heroine’ sees Kareena essaying the character of a superstar in B-town and her journey.

Coming to Heroine’s team, then it boasts of some of the top names from the industry…. India's most celebrated fashion designer Manish Malhotra has come onboard for Kareena's costumes and styling. Top music director duo Salim and Sulaiman Merchant have been signed on to give audiences the biggest chartbusters of 2012. The casting of the film has also been the talk of the town with the dashing Arjun Rampal being paired in the role of a superstar opposite Kareena. Strong actors Randeep Hooda and Shahana Goswami have also joined the cast of the film. It just can't get any bigger than this!

Interestingly, the project also marks 10 years of Madhur Bhandarkar's critical and commercial success in which he made cult films and big entertainers like ‘Chandni Bar’, ‘Satta’, ‘Page 3’, ‘Corporate’, ‘Fashion’ and ‘Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji’. Madhur, who has already seen his movies bag 11 National Awards, considers ‘Heroine’ to be his biggest film to date.
