Nargis Fakhri, who is not overtly familiar with Hindi and came with zero acting experience before stepping into 'Rockstar', had only one mentor for herself - Imtiaz Ali. The director, who is credited for making even a Brazilian model like Geselli Monteiro turn into a desi Punjabi kudi for 'Love Aaj Kal', went an extra mile to make sure that Nargis came across as a quintessential Delhi University student opposite Ranbir.

"However when it came to some serious counselling and other acting tips, it was Imtiaz who stepped in to do the job. Ranbir could have possibly made a move and offered Nargis all the help but you know how things are perceived in this industry", says a unit member, "So when it came to all the fun on the sets or other events, he was casual with Nargis in just the same way as he would with other unit members and co-stars. It was an arrangement that no one minded and as a result of that, thankfully no one is linking Ranbir and Nargis together."

When contacted, Ranbir smiled and said, "Yes, it was Imtiaz all the way. He was the one who shouldered responsibility to mentored Nargis entirely."

Well, given the 'desi' touch that Nargis has managed to bring in her portrayal of a Kashmiti girl Heer Kaul, one can pretty much sense Imtiaz's sensibilities at play here.
