Ali Abbas Zafar, director of 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan', is clear in his mind about the kind of audience he wants to target for his films. Just like Imtiaz Ali who likes to set his characters belonging to the real India and doesn't take a superfluous approach in his movies, even Ali Abbas is sure that he would keep his future stories too connected to the roots. This would be evident in his next film that he would be kick-starting for Yash Raj Films (with whom he is in a three film contract).

"Yes, Ali is currently writing a script which is again set as a mainstream entertainer," says a source close to him, "Just like 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan', even this new film of his would be designed for pan-India audience since this is the basic philosophy that Ali carries. He hails from Dehradun and has seen quite a few films in small cities and towns during his growing up years. This is what formed his basic education of cinema, something that has been a hallmark of Imtiaz's films as well. Since he comes from Jamshedpur, that small town element was prevalent in 'Socha Na Tha', 'Jab We Met', 'Love Aaj Kal' as well as 'Rockstar'.

When contacted, Ali Abbas said with a touch of nostalgia in his voice, "I understand that multiplex business is huge today but real fun is to stand in a full line and wait for your turn to get hold of that ticket. These have been my fondest childhood memories and I don't want to erase them when I make my own films."

Well, Imtiaz would approve!
