Amitabh Bachchan suffered a hairline rib fracture during the shoot of Ram Gopal Varma's 'Department'. It is said that while Amitabh tried his hands at an action sequence in the film, he got hurt resulting in a fracture.

Amitabh Bachchan plays a cameo role in RGV's 'Department' and while shooting for an action sequence, he got hit by the elbow of a security in the shot. Feeling pain he took advice from his doctor to go for a scan. After having shot a song sequence next day, Big B went in for an X-Ray and doctors identified a hairline fracture in his rib.

Speaking on the incident, Amitabh expressed to his fans via his blog, "There is a fracture in the rib, albeit hairline; it cannot be given any treatment, for such ailments are left to heal on their own... That takes care of the next 3-4 weeks because that is the recognized healing period. Bear the pain and that is it... Damn!"

The doctors have expressed that the fracture is a mild one and will heal in about a month's time.
