'Vengayam': The more you peel, the more you feel

Movies like 'Vengayam' don't happen on a regular basis in Tamil cinema. At a time when filmmakers are forced to make commercial compromises, debutant director Sankagiri Rajkumar has made an honest attempt with a sole aim- the movie should be meaningful.
In other words, 'Vengayam' is one of the better films that have emerged out of Kollywood this year. Rajkumar, inspired by reports that appeared in newspapers, has neatly woven a script that takes a dig at fake Godmen, tantrics and astrologers.
At the same time, the director has ensured that the film doesn't get preachy. It works big time as the story is taken from real life incidents and packaged as a rural entertainer which has humour, romance and sentiments.
In Rajkumar's own words, "I strictly believe that filmmakers have a social responsibility. This thought made me to come out with Vengayam". As IndiaGlitz already mentioned in its review, 'With hard-hitting dialogues, a must for films on such genre, Vengayam is worth a watch.'
