'Singham' has turned out to be yet another success story at the box office this season. This Ajay Devgn starrer opened on a very good note and stayed the same right through the weekend to ensure that Bollywood records yet another Hit this summer.

As predicted last week, the film fetched 30 crores over the first weekend, hence lending Ajay Devgn his biggest opening ever when it comes to solo starrers. Yes, his 'Raajneeti' and 'Golmaal 3' have opened better but then they both have been multi starrer affairs. As a solo lead, Ajay has now joined the likes of Khans, Akshay and Hrithik who have time and again touched the magic number of 30 crores in the first three days of release.

What makes the success of 'Singham' further remarkable though is the fact that unlike many other multi-starrers that come with a huge price tag, this Rohit Shetty film is actually a quickie which was started and wrapped up, all in a matter of four months. This means that cost of production as well as marketing/promotion was relatively lower than quite a few other mega crore films that have released in recent times. What is noticeable though is the fact that a major quantum of moolah for 'Singham' is coming from single screens, which means the film is enjoying far better footfalls.

Since the word of mouth for the film ranges from above average to very good, 'Singham' has all in it to enjoy an extended innings at the box office. All of this means that theatre business over next three weeks till the release of 'Aarakshan' is pretty sorted out because while 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' will continue to be the first choice at multiplexes, 'Singham' will roar the loudest at single screens, hence ensuring that the smiles continue for Bollywood.
