The present trend in Tamil cinema is constantly undergoing a change which is definitely for the better. Recently director Sargunan's upcoming film 'Vaagai Sooda Va's audio launch was held. 'Vaagai Sooda Va' is set in the 1970s and has a rustic feel to it. The music launch function saw many popular names in the industry gracing the scene to the likes of Cheran, Ameer, S.P. Jananathan, S.A. Chandrasekar, Vasanth, Vijay, Prabhu Solomon, Simbudevan, Susindran, Pandiraj, Vairamuthu, R.K. Selvamani, Radhika, Ponvannan, Saranya, Thambi Ramaiah, Iniya, Thangar Bachan, T Siva, Vimal and AL Azhagappan.

The first music disc was released by director Bharathi Raja and was graciously accepted by director K. Bhagyaraj.

Vimal plays a village school teacher in this period drama and the story deals with how he meets a girl working in a tea stall. With Sargunan in the director's chair the film is touted to give a distinct picture about the characterizations as well as about the story. He was praised by is contemporaries as well as seasoned directors like Bharathiraja and Bhagyaraj regarding his keen eye for detail in portraying village subjects.

Produced by Sargunan's longtime friend S. Muruganadham the film has music by debutant Gibran who also has hit the bull's eye with his musical notes.

The lead pair in this film Vimal and Iniya too received a pat from the celebrities present during the audio launch for their perfect portrayal of their characters.
