'Shaitan' may have decent footfalls

Three new films release this weekend and frankly, they can be expected to suffer from anxious moments as of now at the least. 'Ready' has been seeing huge collections for itself and it's second weekend is all set to be bigger than the first weekend of all other films that have released in 2011 so far. This means that 'Shaitan', 'West is West' and 'Love Express' would be struggling to make their presence felt.
Amongst these films, the one that still has chances to find an audience for itself is 'Shaitan'. The film's dark and edgy promo has done the trick and it is apparent that 'Shaitan' would be breaking quite a few rules when it comes to pushing the envelope. Film's funky music, though not much popular as of now, gives a very good sense of the kind of territory that 'Shaitan' would be venturing into. A word of mouth film that should find it's bearing amongst the youth in cities; 'Shaitan' would have a slow start (around 30%-40%) but would still be better than the rest.
The other film that may just about manage to see some footfalls is 'West Is West'. Sequel of 'East Is East' and starring Om Puri, it would be basically released as an English film by multiplexes which means that it's target audience too would be restricted. Controlled promotion and sudden release in the time when 'Ready' is still going strong and there is a crowd of other Hindi releases means that 'West Is West' would be struggling to gain much moolah at the box office.
As for 'Love Express', a Subhash Ghai production, it is a delayed film which is just managing to find a release slot when there are other big films on both sides of the week. It would be a miracle if this non-starcast and minimally promoted film manages to complete a week at the box office.
