The makers of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara are having the final laugh. Promo of their multi starrer youth affair is out and in the process has quashed all speculations around the film being a remake of Hollywood slapstick blockbuster The Hangover (2009).
Even though there were accusations around similarities, we didnt react because we knew the product that we were making, says Ritesh Sidhwani, the films producer.
Starring Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif, Farhan Akhtar, Abhay Deol and Kalki Koechelin, this Zoya Akhtar film is story of three boys who go on a road trip to celebrate the impending marriage of one of them (Abhay). With the plot line bearing similarities with The Hangover, it didn't take much time for speculations to begin.
Well, for you to further know about it all, we had actually registered our script 10 days before the release of The Hangover. What more should I say. We were just smiling away even as these rumours were making the rounds, adds Ritesh.
On a parting note he adds, "We at Excel have never plagiarized a film. Also if we ever remake a film, we will go for procuring the rights, as we did in case of Don.
We certainly stand corrected Ritesh and would want to now check out the film for ourselves when it releases all over on 15th July.
