Today is the first Friday for films to hit the screens after the elections for Tamil Nadu Assembly were over April 13. Though there are only two direct Tamil releases ('Ko' and 'Vikatakavi') this week, film pundits are optimistic about the business in the box-office, thanks to the K V Anand-directed film.

'Ko' is an all important film for Jeeva, for it is expected that the actor would join the elite list of Kollywood heroes once the film is released. "I play a photographer working with a media house. It is a powerful role," he says.

"I am confident that the film would take me to a new level. It is a great script and my colleagues Ajmal, Karthika, Piya and others have given their best. All credits go to director K V Anand," says the actor.

Produced by R S Infotainment, 'Ko' is being released by Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies. Music is by Harris Jayaraj, cinematography Richard Nathan, editing by Antony and script by popular writers Suba.

Since the movie is on the media world, Suba and K V Anand took nearly 10 months to give final shape to the screenplay. "Visiting various newspaper offices to glean information about the day-to-day running of a daily was their daily affair," sources say.

Vikatakavi, Amala Paul may be one of the top heroines of Tamil cinema today. But her first film in Kollywood is seeing the light of the day only this week. It's 'Vikatakavi', which is directed by G Krishnan.

Talking about the movie, the director, who had worked as sound engineer in over 2000 films, says, "There is a general belief that those born in Tamil month of Aadi would be spoilt brat. This is a movie about such five individuals, who prove their worth to the society".

Besides Amala Paul, the movie has newcomers Satheesh, Vrichika Kanth, Pechi, Irshadh among others. The movie would be presented by M Senthilnathan on behalf of Saraya Cinemas.

Rathan has scored music while Mafoo Anandh handles cinematography. A major portion of the movie was shot in and around Madurai.
