Opening on a below average note and showing an escalation over the weekend, 'Yeh Saali Zindagi' showed some tremendous sustenance over the weekdays, hence registering a healthy total of 7.5 crores which is good for a film like this which has been made in a decent budget. In fact the film showed one of the best weekdays v/s weekend responses as it did consistent business of around 75 lakhs each from Monday to Thursday. In the process it also showcases how film makers like Sudhir Mishra are ready to reinvent themselves despite being in the business for over two decades.
Gaining an 'average' tag for itself, this Irrfan Khan, Chitrangda Singh and Arunoday Singh starrer would unfortunately not enjoy similar collections in it's subsequent weeks since 'Patiala House' is already running while '7 Khoon Maaf' releases next week. However, just like some of the other films in the past that have done exceedingly well on the basis of word of mouth - the most recent one being 'Band Baaja Baaraat' - 'Yeh Saali Zindagi' too deserves a good screen count for itself. Even if the film gets 2-3 shows per multiplex for next four-five weeks, this would be able to gain an audience for itself which it truly deserves.
Other films that released in the same week - 'Utt Pataang', 'Hum Dono Rangeen', 'Tum Hi To Ho' and 'United Six' - are all disasters and struggled to even complete a one week run. One particularly feels bad for 'Utt Pataang' that had the potential to do a lot better but went totally unnoticed. Collections of mere 30 lakhs are a testimony of the fact that not all small films always manage to find audience just on the basis of word of mouth and most of the times just find themselves on the loosing end due to zero awareness and hence zilch visibility.
