For Akshay Kumar, working in 'Patiala House' was a nostalgic experience. It wasn't because the situations in the film reminded him of his own growing up years. Instead, the reality was just the opposite where unlike his on-screen father Rishi Kapoor, Akshay's father supported him every endeavour of his and walked an extra distance to ensure that his son's dreams were fulfilled.

"The circumstances that I face in 'Patiala House' are completely opposite to my own real life story", says Akshay, "My own father truly supported every step that I took. He worked double shifts so that I could train in Martial Arts. Hence Gattu’s (the name of his character in 'Patiala House') situation was completely alien to me."

Getting emotional, Akshay adds, "I grew up with love and support; not threats and tears. This the reason why it was so endearing to play a son who is broken hearted by his father, rather than by his wife or girlfriend."

Also starring Anushka Sharma and Dimple Kapadia in principal roles, Nikhil Advani directed 'Patiala House' has music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and releases all over tomorrow.
