Though Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi had enjoyed a huge success together in the form of 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai' last year, there was also some disappointment for them with 'Toonpur Ka Superrhero' and 'Crook' failing at the box office. However there were smiles again for the duo with 'Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji' turning out to be a decent success. Good word of mouth ensured that the film grew over the weekend and then also stay stable at the box office. This resulted in a 21 crores first week which immediately brought this Madhur Bhandarkar film into a safe zone.
Of course given a huge print count, the film could have done somewhat better. However in the times when quick bucks are the order of the day and what matters is moolah to be recovered in a jiffy, 'Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji' ensured that all it's ends were covered. All that comes for the film is a bonus from here on with box office tagging it as a success already.
With Bhandarkar enjoying good returns on a romantic comedy, one waits to see if he would return to dark cinema again. Also for Emraan Hashmi, it could be a good prelude to many a multi starrer flicks that he may agree to do henceforth. As for the versatile Ajay, 'Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji' could well translate into a good beginning for another year where he would have around 3-4 releases.
On the other hand Aamir Khan's 'Dhobi Ghat' totally crashed in it's second week. With a 90% fall and only a little over 1 crore coming in, 'Dhobi Ghat now stands at 14 crores and would struggle to cross the 15 crores mark. It is obvious that those who wanted to watch the film did so over the first weekend itself (in which 9 crores came in). However in 11 days that followed, only 5 crores more were collected that tells the tale. For an art-house affair, the film is a good investment success but that's about it.
