October 1, 2010. Even before the day was dawned, it was like a festival in front of cinema halls all over Tamil Nadu. Because, the box-office God took a new avatar on that day, in the name of ‘Enthiran’.

Today, the Superstar Rajinikanth starrer, produced by Sun Pictures on a ‘never before’ budget and directed by Shankar, has successfully completed 100 days, a rare mark in Kollywood these days.

Even more than three months of its release, the film is still running in 10 theatres in Chennai alone, without taking into account cinema halls in suburbs of the city and the rest of Tamil Nadu.

Says a trade pundit, “Enthiran has clearly rewritten the rules of Tamil cinema. Budget is no more a concern now provided if a team like Enthiran is formed. The main reason behind the film’s success is Rajini with other factors adding strength to it.”
