The gone year was the 31st year of Mammookka's acting career and in fact his 27th year on super stardom. But the fact remains that he is still the most disciplined , steady and professional actor ever to have witnessed in Mollywood. He had nine films(the highest in recent years) in 2010 of which two had him in special appearances.

The only megastar of Mollywood created the year's biggest hit in Vysakh's 'Pokkiriraja', which amassed a profit of 5 crores from various circuits. But his movie which was much talked about was Renjith's 'Pranchiyettan and the Saint' which was noted for his meticulous performance and also for his careful selection of subject.

The movie not only was the critics favourite but also continues in three theatres in major centres even after 110 days, becoming a big hit.The other success story from the star was of ' Best Actor' which was his year end release. His big art house movie with Shaji N karun 'Kuttyshranku' was also released last year to much critical acclaim.

Three movies that didn't work for the actor in 2010 were shaji Kailas's ‘Drona2010', 'Pramani' with B Unnikrishnan and 'Vandematharam' a bilingual, which was a big failure in both the languages.

2010 also saw Mammootty adorning two D.Litt Degrees conferred by University of Kerala and University of Calicut for his contributions to cinema. The year also had him narrowly missing the National award for his performance in films of 2009. But he was bestowed with many awards including the State award for the best actor.

Mammootty was also selected as the Most Favourite Keralite in many surveys conducted by various media in 2010.

In 2011, Malayalees will see him in movies like Shikaari, August15, Doubles, and 'Mathilukalkkappuram'.
