The Madras High Court on Tuesday issued a stay on Sajid Khans Housefull, in response to a petition filed on behalf of popular Tamil producer P L Thennappan, who claimed that the Akshay Kumar starrer was based on Kadhala Kadhala. Following the order, the film will not be telecasted on Indian satellite television and cable.
In his petition, Thenappan said that he was the owner of the rights of the Kamal Haasan-Prabhu Deva starrer movie and he had not sold it to anyone. However, Housefull is based on Kadhala Kadhala, he said. He further added that the Hindi film included nearly 60 per cent of the scenes from Kadhala Kadhala. The producer also said that he was in talks with producer Sajid Nadiadwala about selling the remake rights and the deal did not go through.
A comedy caper, Housefull also includes Deepika Padukone, Arjun Rampal, Ritesh Deshmukh, Lara Dutta, Jiah Khan and Boman Irani.
