After the acclaimed English movie 'Before The Rains', which was extensively shot in India with Indian actors, Santhosh Sivan is getting ready to start his next titled 'Urumy' which is planned as a trilingual in Malayalam, Hindi and English. Produced by the director in association with actor Prithviraj under the banner of 'August Cinema', the movie tells a historical story penned by Sankar Ramakrishnan.

Basically, ‘Urumy’ is an eight feet long flexible sword which is used in Kalari martial art. But this period film set in the 15th century, at a crucial moment in Indian history, is all about the arrival of the Portuguese adventurer, Vasco Da Gama. The movie tells the story of a group of men who plans to murder Vasco De Gama, who had set foot in Kappad in Calicut in 1498.

While Prithviraj will appear as the leader of the mob that desires to murder Vasco Da Gama, Genelia De'zouza will debut into Malayalam, playing a Portuguese princess in this movie. The film will have an English subtitle- “Who Killed Vasco De Gama?”
