Much discussions are going on in Kerala about the sad fate of theatre owners who are forced to shut down their theatres and convert then into marriage halls. In the last decade at least a 100 theatres were modified as convention centres or halls due to lack of viewers to sustain them as film halls.

Anyway, addressing their problems will be the new Mohanlal film 'Talkies' directed by Shajoon Karyl. The movie will feature Lal as an owner of a ‘C’ class theatres in a village. The movie will present the survival problems of exhibitors in the various regions of the state and also take a satirical look at the production and distribution avenues of Mollywood.

Scripted by S Sureshbabu, the movie will be one of the immediate projects of Mohanlal.

Shajoon Karyal had earlier been with Mohanlal for the hit movie ‘Vadakkumnathan’ while S Sureshbabu is the scriptwriter of the Lal movie 'Shikaar'' which is currently under production.
