Kites - Stills

According to latest reports, Hrithik Roshan’s recent release ‘Kites’ has been suspended in some theatres in Chennai, following pressure from a local Tamil organization. It is done as a mark of protest towards the actor's decision to attend the IIFA awards in Colombo.

On the other hand, the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce (SIFCC) is reported to take similar actions on other stars who are attending the event, by banning their respective films.

The day since Sri Lanka was chosen for the event, IIFA kick started a storm among Tamil supporters, who allege the Sri Lankan government of killing Tamils civilians in course of the conflict between army and LTTE last year.

Following this controversy, several biggies of B-town like the Bachchans, Shah Rukh Khan have kept away from the event.
