The Roshans big ticket to Hollywood, Kites which released on 21st May 2010 all over the world is facing trouble for the release, especially in Karnataka region. Reason the Reliance Big Pictures is crossing the limits of excess prints in Karnataka.
In the exceptional cases, the maximum of non Kannada release should not exceed 40 theatres in Karnataka. But Reliance Big Pictures flouting the norms has made up arrangements for 90 plus screens that too when two big films in Kannada namely Shanker IPS starring action hero of Kannada, Vijay and Ragini in the direction of MS Ramesh, Nooru Janmaku of ace director Nagathihalli Chandrasekhar starring Santosh and Aindrita Ray, are releasing on 21st May as well.
An emergency meeting with the exhibitors was held on Thursday by Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce President Basanth Kumar Patil and he has clearly indicated the exhibitors who flout the norms set by the KFCC would face the strictures. The exhibitors in return asked for written letter not to screen Hrithik Roshan Kites.
Many of the theatres have made online booking and issued advance tickets to Kites. The advance booking has been made till Monday for Kites. The exhibitors have now decided to return back the advance amount taken from the cine goers.
A meeting would have taken place again on Friday morning. All the three sectors producers, exhibitors and distributors are taking part in this meeting.
The reason for passing strict orders is also because the Vice President of the distributor sector of Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce, K.Manju is the producer of Shanker IPS Kannada film that is releasing in 80 theatres in Karnataka on this Friday. Kites entangled!
