This Karan Johar’s recent released is garnering not just rave reviews but also has set the overseas box office ringing loud and clear…

Taking an insight into the international markets, ‘My Name Is Khan’ reported to have earned nearly Rs 72.4 crores! Most importantly, it has received a worldwide gross of Rs. 174.60 crores (USD 37.5 M) with India contributing Rs. 102.2 crores.

Leaving behind Hollywood biggies like ‘Dark Knight’, ‘Transformers 2’, ‘Spider Man 3’, ‘Twilight: New Moon’, the film said to have become the 4th biggest movie of all time, especially in UAE. Woaw!!

Besides, the Middle East distributors believe it to be twice of Fox Searchlight’s global 2008 acclaimed ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.

According to Vijay Singh of Fox, in other Islamic markets too MNIK continues to grow and has crossed over to non-diaspora audiences. “In Indonesia, for example, the film has grown from 6 to 14 screens and has seen a jump of 300 per cent in week three. The film has not just done the highest ever theatrical business for a Bollywood film, it has become a national phenomenon,” added Singh.

The film also reported to have become the highest grossing Bollywood film in the Middle East at 3.3 million USD and with Jordan, Lebanon & Syria is opening on 10th March, the number is expected to go much higher.

Kudos to the MNIK team!
