The film gave out its first call in 2006. However David Dhawans Hook Ya Crook took nearly three years by staying on the shelf due to various reasons. The original cast said to had Siddharth, Amrita Rao, Aditya Panscholi, Uday Chopra and Irrfan Khan. Now Hook Ya Crook has replaced them with John Abraham, Genelia D'Souza, Shreyas Talpade, Kay Kay Menon and Sharad Kapoor.
Hook Ya Crook is based on cricket, played by the inmates of a jail. John Abraham plays Viraj Pradhan who heads a cricket team inside the prison. It is during the shooting that the actor hurt himself badly; disrupting the films schedule and it became one of the reasons for films delay.
As cricket plays an important part in the narrative, the film is also said to be waiting to get the dates from some key Indian cricket players, according the director. But looks like David Dhawan doesnt want to give more room for delay-rumours and said to have assured to give Hook Ya Crook in the first half of 2010. He said that by December they will wrap up the films shooting. While we are waiting for this last schedule to get over, which would last for about 10 days in total, there is good progress being made on the post production activities. The film is certainly not on hold, as some rumour mongers are busy predicting, stated Dhawan.
