ÂPoliticians too have a soul and it has love and affection. ThatÂs why I could shower love and affection on Sarath Kumar, though he had quit the DMK and launched his own party All India Samathuva Makkal KatchiÂ, Chief Minister M Karunanidhi said on Sunday.
Speaking at the music launch of ÂJaggubhai in Chennai, he was ready for attacks from his own students, including Sarath. ÂAnd I will take it as greetings from my beloved brothers, the octogenarian said in an emotional tone. Declaring that he would no longer hit back at his political adversaries to refute their charges, the DMK president said he would devote his remaining part of his life to serve the people. ÂThis came to my thought, when I made an emotional speech at the valedictory function of the centenary celebrations of my mentor Anna in Kancheepuram Saturday. I am very firm that I will not hurt anyone, any longer''.
Stating that he has lived three fourth of his life, the 86-year-old politician said: ''I will henceforth concentrate on what I did for the Tamil language, the people of the State and the people of the continent and what I should do more for them''.
On his relationship with Sarath, M Karunanidhi said, ÂEven though we have separated for some time- I donÂt know what the future holds. Sarath has been reciprocating the love and respect I have for him in keeping with Tamil tradition.Â
Others participated in the function were producer of the film Radhika Sarath Kumar, director K S Ravikumar, music composer A R Rahman, Tamil Film Producers Council president Rama Narayanan, filmmakers K Bhagiyaraj, R Parthiban, Vikraman, producer Abhirami Ramanathan, actors Nirosha and Sirisha.
