Madhur Bhandarkar, being different!

He has made a very fine impression in the film industry by bringing real life stories on the reel front. He has woven tales from the most ground level community to top class sections. Madhur Bhandarkar is one film maker who creates replicas of reality through his films. He gave outstanding movies like ÂChandni BarÂ, ÂPage 3Â, ÂCorporateÂ, ÂTraffic Signal and recently, highly acclaimed ÂFashionÂ.
Going by his film outputs, Madhur has been at the receiving end for making films at low costs and with serious content, giving less space for love and humour. But the director doesnÂt seem to agree with this. For, he says, ÂI started my journey with ÂChandni BarÂ, which had a one-and-a-half crore budget. I made ÂFashion in 20 crores. In seven years, I've progressed a lot. I've proved myself in terms of creativity and opulence. I sell concepts, not stars. If I want to make a love story or a comedy, it will be according to my sensibilities.Â
Madhur remains distinguished director, because he maintains distance from the usual Âfilmy maahol and has thus created an identity of his own. He went on to express saying, ÂI donÂt belong to any camp. If anyone asks me which group I belong to, I tell them that I belong to an orphan group because IÂve nothing to do with the film industry people. I live in my own world and make my kind of cinema for my audience.Â
Well, donÂt they say deviate to rule?
