Aamir Khan, who is eagerly awaiting the release of 'Ghajini', will be in Chennai on 12 August to receive the coveted Gollapudi Srinivas Memorial Endowment Award.

The award is given annually to the best debutant director. Aamir Khan has been chosen for this year's award for his excellent work in wielding the megaphone for 'Taare Zameen Par'. The movie that narrated the story of a dyslexic child won him accolades. Besides directing, Aamir Khan also played a prominent role in the film.

It may be recalled that Aamir Khan usually doesn't attend any award functions of film related events and this is the first time that he has agreed to receive an award bestowed on him.

Meanwhile, Aamir is reportedly excited about 'Ghajini', which is set to hit theatres very soon. A remake of the Tamil hit with the same title featured Suriya, the Hindi movie is directed by Murugadoss and features Asin along with Aamir.
