Padmarajan award for 'Thaniye'

Debutante director Babu Thiruvalla's 'Thaniye' bagged the award for the best film in the Padramarajan Puraskaaram 2007, announced yesterday.

The awards were announced by noted director Adoor Gopalakrishnan, who was the head of the jury.

The movie which told the sad plight of the aged and the lone lines that they faced in stages of decrepitude has some sterling performances for Nedumudi Venu and Lakshmi Gopalaswamy.

The director of the movie will get a purse of Rs 20,000 while the scriptwriters will get a cash award of Rs 10,000.

The movie scripted by Babu Thiruvalla and Nedumudi Venu has won many awards and was selected to many international festivals.
