Veyyil has been selected as the 'Best other language film' at the Amritha Awards in Kerala.

Interestingly the movie has been selected to represent Indian cinema at the Cannes Film Festival this year.

The third film from director Shankar's production house, the movie won critical and popular acclaim for its realistic narration of the tale of two brothers in the backdrop of the Virudhunagar area.

The story follows Murugesan (Pasupathy), the eldest sibling, as he runs away from home and assists a film projectionist.

Music is scored by G V Prakash, nephew of music director A R Rahman. Bharath, Bhavana, Priyanka and Shreya Reddy are part of the cast.
