With Pongal round the corner and big budget and topnotch movies ready, this week may not see much action at the box-office.

In fact, the last two weeks had been pretty hectic with a slew of movies making it to the theatres.

Many producers have privately complained about too many releases in short time.

But they couldn’t do much about it as the situation was such that they couldn’t delay it anymore.

This Pongal day, the most happening releases would be Pokiri, Aalwar, Sabari, Thamiraparani. Paruthi Veeran may also release.

Films like Deepavali and Pachaikili Muthucharam have pulled out of the race at the last moment.

Manirathnam’s Hindi movie Guru, dubbed in Tamil, will also release this season and it is seen as a contender as Madhavan plays a journalist in this filmi saga of Dhirubhai Ambani.

Let’s hope this harvest season turns out to be a good time for the film-makers too.
