Going abroad to shoot song sequences is the latest trend in Tamil cinema. Ajith and Asin, along with director Chella had been to Switzerland recently to shoot a peppy number for Aalwar.

Asin flew to Australia with Vijay to shake her legs for a peppy number in Pokiri set to tunes by Mani Sharma. Director Suresh recently shot a song sequence featuring Vijayakanth, Jothirmayee and Malavika in Bangkok. On 23 December, Jayam Ravi and Bhavana would be off to Oman to shoot for a song for the movie Deepavali. K S Adhiyaman is directing Shaam and 'Kuthu' Ramya in Malaysia, while director Jeeva recently canned a major portion of his movie Unnalae Unnalae in Australia.

In a recent interview, director Vikraman had said that shooting abroad is much easier compared to shooting here. There are no cumbersome procedures involved to obtain permission and the expenditure when shooting abroad, is very less too.
