Mammootty in the past had a good outing in the scripts of Renji Panikkar which delivered fierce action and bombastic dialogues.

Film like The King became the box office winners of the time and the stylistic performances of Mammootty in those films were well admired.

Now after seven years Renji Panikkar is planning to remake the same character of King, district collector named James Joseph in a different mould. Mammootty will play the lead character as collector, but the director says that the film will not be a sequel to the original mega hit.

Instead he is borrowing the same character and placing him in a new story line. Mammootty fans who have been away from this breed of films will definitely find this entertaining, as powerful dialogue delivery is one of the strengths of the actor. The film is all set to start in April of 2007, and will probably be the Onam release of next year.
